Don't ignore the warning signs

May 17, 2026    Pastor Jacob Gray

This powerful message takes us deep into 2 Kings chapter 14, examining the life of King Amaziah and revealing a pattern that resonates profoundly with our own spiritual journeys. We discover how compromise in seemingly small areas of our lives creates a pathway to pride, which then leads to rebellion, and ultimately brings devastating consequences. The story unfolds with a king who did what was right in God's sight, yet refused to remove the high places where people continued in idolatry. This partial obedience becomes a haunting reminder that God doesn't want compartmentalized devotion. He desires all of us - our families, our finances, our friendships, everything. Like water damage slowly eroding a foundation, spiritual compromise works invisibly until one day the damage becomes catastrophic. Amaziah experienced tremendous victories, listened to prophetic warnings, and even paid troops not to fight when God told him to send them away. Yet his earlier compromise eventually corrupted his success, leading him to worship the very gods of the people he conquered. The message challenges us to examine those dripping faucets in our spiritual lives - the areas where we think a little compromise won't matter. Whether it's our prayer life, time management, relationships, or hard-heartedness toward others, these small concessions rot us from the inside out. The beautiful truth, however, is that humility changes everything. We don't need perfection; we need to humble ourselves and allow God to remove what's rotting within us before the cracks begin to show.
