Enjoying the blessings of God Pt. 3

Dec 7, 2025    Pastor Jacob Gray

This powerful message takes us into one of the most desperate moments in biblical history—the siege of Samaria recorded in 2 Kings 6. We encounter a nation so devastated by famine that mothers resorted to cannibalism, yet even in this horror, we discover profound truths about faith and God's provision. The central lesson challenges us to examine our response when life becomes unbearable: do we blame God and His messengers, or do we seek His face? The king's instinct was to kill the prophet Elisha rather than repent, revealing how easily we redirect our anger toward God's Word when circumstances overwhelm us. But God had already prepared deliverance through the most unlikely means—four leprous men who discovered an abandoned enemy camp filled with provisions. The message confronts our tendency to harbor unrepentant sin, nurse grudges, and doubt God's promises when we face our own sieges. It reminds us that God warned Israel centuries earlier in Deuteronomy 28 about the consequences of rebellion, yet also promised blessing for obedience. The question becomes painfully personal: what unconfessed sin in our lives is blocking the flow of God's blessings? Are we willing to get alone with God and ask, 'Lord, is it me?' This isn't about earning God's favor but about removing the obstacles we've placed between ourselves and His abundant provision.
